Roman Polanski Playing Victim: Boo Hoo

Roman Polanski says he is being treated unfairly by being detained in Switzerland while Swiss authorities decide if he should be extradited to the United States for raping a thirteen year-old girl in 1977.

Mr. Polanski, when you treat another human being unfairly, like luring a child, betraying her trust and sodomizing her when you realized she could become pregnant if you continued to penetrate her vaginally, you will have to suffer the consequences of your actions later in life.

Polanski says the L.A. County D.A. is trying to extradite him for publicity and to serve him “on a platter to the media of the world.”

No Mr. Polanski, the D.A. is trying to serve justice. You’re so-called Hollywood status has nothing to do with the crime you committed.

“Reconstructing the case in his own words, the filmmaker, who pleaded guilty to having unlawful sex with a minor in 1977, says that he served 49 days in jail, which was a “period that was to have covered the totality of my sentence.”

He claims that the judge at the time, who died in 1993, later “changed his mind and claimed that the time served … did not fulfill the entire sentence, and it is this reversal that justified my leaving the United States.”

The judge in your case most likely received hundreds of letters and phone calls in a cry for justice after you were given only 49 days in jail —a mere slap in the face. The judge most likely realized that a sentence of 49 days for the rape and sodomy of a child is outrageous and tells victims of rape and child abuse that they are worthless. He probably understood that the original sentence was like a green light to perpetrators, “Go ahead, rape and molest kids, you’ll get a free pass.”

“I can remain silent no longer because I have been placed under house arrest in Gstaad,” writes Polanski, “and because I am far from my family and unable to work.”

Well Mr. Polanski, when a child is raped, betrayed, and sodomized, they often grow with so many mental, emotional, and physical problems that they are unable to have a normal relationship with anyone, much less have a family, and many are unable to function at work because of so many physical and mental stresses. Many victims of child sexual abuse and rape have their career dreams destroyed when a man sticks his penis in their small body and violently thrusts himself inside of them to his own satisfaction.

Be grateful that you are able to speak out Mr. Polanski and have a public media to tell the world about your woes. According to this article, you told your victim not to tell her mother and that she should “keep this a secret.”

Mr. Polanski, be thankful that you have a voice because countless victims of child rape and molestation remain silent forever because their perpetrators tell them to keep the secret or threaten them with death if they ever talk about it to anyone. Many child victims take their trauma to their grave.

I feel no pity for your so-called suffering in Switzerland.
