I have heard several experts defend what Jose Baez did in opening arguments. A number of psychiatrists, TV commentators, and attorneys have said that what Baez did was just fine.
If Jose Baez knowingly lied to the world when he accused George Anthony of child sexual abuse, and of making an accidental drowning look like murder, then Baez is an unethical man who should be disbarred for lying to a court of law.
We live in very anti-Christic times. ‘What’s good is bad; what’s bad is good. If it gets you what you want, do it. If it feels good, do it. If it gets your client off, say it. If it’s in your way, kill it.’
But even if Baez made his opening statement based merely on what Casey Anthony told him about June 16th 2008, and about her childhood, I still find Baez to be an unethical man because he and Casey Anthony are now appealing her four convictions of lying to police.
At this point, as far as we can tell, the only reason for this appeal is to delay and impede the civil suit against Casey Anthony by Zenaida Gonzalez. The civil case cannot go forward until the appeal is resolved.
Jose Baez openly admitted in the trial that Casey is a liar, that she lied to the police, and even Casey herself finally admitted to police that she lied. So in my opinion, this appeal shows the true character of Mr. Baez and his client –protect the lie, protect the liar, throw truth in the trash, laugh at our justice system, and do whatever it takes to get rid of what is in your way.
Nancy Grace called the murder of Caylee Marie, “the most horrific crime of our time.” She is wrong. The murder of Caylee Marie Anthony, the trial of Casey Anthony, and the outcome of the trial is the sign of our times.
