Female Texas Socialite Faces Charges of Viewing and Distributing Child Pornography

Men caught distributing child pornography go to jail until their trial. Wealthy women go into “treatment centers.”

DALLAS — “A wealthy Texas woman married to an attorney has been charged with collecting and trading child pornography online in what experts say is a rare case of a woman being caught up in such activity.”

I have news for the “experts.” Women viewing and sharing child pornography is NOT rare.

“Erika Susan Perdue has been undergoing addiction treatment since her April arrest on federal charges that she accessed child pornography from the computer in her $1.4 million, 4,000-square-foot home in the well-heeled Dallas enclave of University Park.”

Erika Perdue

“FBI agents who raided the home found child pornography on the computer, and Perdue admitted she’d been collecting it for 12 years, according to court records. She told investigators she used file-trading software every day to exchange images while her husband, an attorney who specializes in intellectual property cases, was at work.

“I’ve seen cases of women collecting or trading child porn, but not very often and not somebody in that socio-economic strata,” said Nancy Hagan, the longtime executive director of the Alliance for Children, a Fort Worth child advocacy center.

A four-count indictment claims Perdue, 41, engaged in transporting, shipping, receiving and possessing child pornography. If convicted, she could face maximum prison sentences of 20 years for three of the counts and 10 years for the other.

She isn’t accused of creating the images.”

Perdue and her husband, Mark, have been married since December 2009, records show. Mark Perdue is not named in the criminal complaint. According to a court filing by the defense team, Perdue has been undergoing unspecified treatment since her arrest at a center outside Dallas. The facility identified in the document specializes in addressing “addictive behaviors and associated conditions,” according to its Web site.”

So when a woman is caught with these images, she has what is called a “condition.”

“The filing says Perdue suffered a “serious psychiatric/medical setback” in early May, about two weeks after she was charged, making her unable to help with her own defense.

“Her counselor (at the center) remains optimistic that her mental state will improve with continued treatment, but not for several months,” the document states.

Toby Shook, a Dallas criminal defense attorney who previously served as a state court prosecutor, said he has seen cases where women were involved in the distribution of child pornography, usually under the direction of men. But he said he couldn’t recall one in which a woman was interested in trading or purchasing the images.

“It’s very rare that women have an interest in sharing files,” Shook said. “Almost all of the cases you see, as far as trading files, involve men.”

No, usually only the cases they see involve men, and what is “rare” is that the women are forced into doing it. In the cases I have written about, the woman was very willing, she was sexually aroused by it, or she did it to get a date.

“Two Dallas-area women have been sentenced to prison for federal offenses related to child pornography within the past year, but both were involved in creating sexually explicit images, not simply viewing them.

Psychiatrist Fred Berlin, director of the Sexual Behavior Consultation Unit at Johns Hopkins University, said it’s unusual for a woman to access images of child pornography but not outside the realm of possibility. Such a woman may have been abused herself as a child, he said.”

Don’t these so-called “experts” realize how many women are doing this, and just not getting caught? So what if she was sexually abused as a child? She is now a part of sex crimes against a child. “Child pornography” is images of serious sex crimes being committed against children. Anyone who views them and distributes the images is part of those crimes, enables those crimes, and perpetuates those crimes.

“Berlin stressed that viewing or collecting child pornography doesn’t mean a person is likely to harm children. There are marked differences among people who are accessing these materials,” he said, “and one of the things we need to determine is the extent to which they do or do not reflect a danger to the community.”

Does Berlin live in Lala Land? According to child justice authorities, as many as one in three people who collect child pornography are also sexually molesting a child, and the victim is usually someone they know or are related to.

I WANT TO KNOW IF THIS FREAK IS IN JAIL OR STILL IN TREATMENT! Why is this case not being talked about? Maybe because she is a rich socialite married to Attorney Mark Douglas Perdue of Dallas Texas. Can someone please have the balls to keep up with this horrific
crime. I mean this monster actually had a hand in abusing babies and children how can this be overlooked? Drag her ass out of the hole she is in. God help these children. Where is Nancy Grace?

  2. This idea of embracing the child molester to get him/her to see the error of their thinking and acting out their assaults/crimes is not working and yet “professionals” are advocating this idea repeatedly because they gain financially.

Alethea, just wanted to say great article ! You make some really good points. I just wanted to let you know that I was looking at the comments for the huffington post article and none of them mentioned that they thought were incapable of molesting children. The comments were supportive, and negative towards her. Just thought I would let you know since it made me happy to see that allot people seem to recognize that child predators come in all genders.

Thanks Aysha. It’s always good to know that people are aware and open to the fact that some women sexually abuse children, and make and distribute child pornography.

So, this is my conclusion: due to her arrest she discovered that she has a condition that has to be treated in a medical institution. I see…but what about all those 12 years when she was collecting files? Didn’t she get any clue that there is something wrong with her?
From my point of view, I guess that she had enough time to search for medical tratment, now it is time for PRISON.

When the “professionals” are rewarded financially for embracing the victim than the offender, then change will happen.

Until then it is the offenders who will survive and be better equipped to re-offend, thus continuing the cycle of sexual abuse.

My father used to admit himself into “treatment” to avoid prosecution and it worked. He fooled a lot of people.

I am so sick of hearing the question, “If he was a child abuser, why wasn’t he prosecuted?”

“Where is your proof”? is what they are implying because they use “if” before the statement as a qualifier.

The logic is that since he was never prosecuted or convicted of sexual abuse, then that makes ME the village liar because there is no proof his crime.

    Welcome to my world.
