Terryl Gene Peters Sr, 67, also was sentenced on Friday to lifetime probation for one count of child molestation and two counts of attempted child molestation, according to Maricopa County prosecutors.

Peters, of Peoria, Arizona, was accused of sexually abusing the child in April 2008.

The allegation was reported to police in June 2012.

Prosecutors say the victim’s mother called Terryl Peters to confront him in a recorded phone call, and he admitted having sex with the girl.

He was arrested in June 2012 following an investigation.

Mary Peters, 64, served as the nation’s transportation secretary from October 2006 until January 2009 as part of George W Bush’s administration.”

  1. Little Nel says:

“He admitted having sex with the girl” this wording is interesting because it implies that it was not rape but some type of consensual behavior. Did this man drug this child before he raped her, so she was unable to scream for him to stop or call out for help?

What was the connection between the perp and the victim? Was the victim a relative?

    • Jess says:

Lil nel I also saw that wording and was bothered by it. One cannot have sex with a 7 yr old…that can only be called rape. One can rape a 7yr old.

      • Alethea says:

I caught that too Jess and LN. The writer of the article wrote those words without thought, or maybe the writer thinks it was “sex.”

  2. Little Nel says:

It is interesting to note that this perp admitted his crimes to the child’s mother on the phone.

Was this perp so smug that he thought that he was immune from prosecution?

    • Star says:

I love that the mom called him up and recorded his confession! The fact that he told her that he was or had …had sex with a 7 yr old shows how sick these twisted perp’s or sadistic creeps are. What a dummy! A 7 year old girl does not have sex but she can be raped by a nasty old man!.
He was skipping responsibility for the rape….by saying that he had sex with her or consensual sex with a 7 year old girl! The same twisted mindset that all rapist/psychopathic/narcissistic/sadistic people have! I wish the clouds would open up and take them all away forever……..

  3. Star says:

On Sept. 20, 2013, he was sentenced to serve 14 years in prison and given lifetime probation.
+ There will come a day when all these Perp’s will get the justice that is due them. I can not believe this man has raped a little girl and he was given probation. It is as if his notoriety or being well known because of his wife’s career has allowed him to walk free… for RAPE of an innocent child. I am outraged and super mad as HELL! The wounds on this child call for his head on a silver platter and all he gets is some damn probation! I pray he experiences some of the pain he has caused this child to experience before he dies and leaves this earth> I am outraged and I dare to say that society has not gotten outraged enough over all these rape cases involving little
children….. numb and complacent/unconcerned BUT not outraged!

rape a child get probation. Sure why not. I’ve never heard of robbery get probation have you? But apparently children are less important than missing property. But apparently children are less important than missing property.
+ I agree with you Jess. I have noticed that society in general devalues human beings in all sorts of ways. Value is placed on everything (or ANYTHING) But NOT ON “precious human beings” or children. I grew up in a home where no value was placed on me; I was told, “There is nothing at all special about YOU!” I believed these lies and felt valueless for most of my adult life. I am now refuting these lies vehemently or with intense emotions. I am sure that most people in our society are not valued as well. Consequently, they learn to devalue other human beings or children!
